The "I Have A Dream" network is made up of 35 affiliates across the United States, and one in New Zealand. The most important work of "I Have A Dream" occurs at the affiliate level. It is our affiliates who are supporting more than 4,000 Dreamers currently on the pathway to college across the country.
Each affiliate starts and supports one or more Dreamer cohorts, and works to maximize the impact of "I Have A Dream" in their region by starting new Dreamer cohorts, engaging the community in our work, and sharing what we learn to impact broader policy and practices. While each affiliate is generally a separate 501(c)(3), they all operate under the "I Have A Dream" banner and with the same vision, goals, and operating principles.
Most of our affiliates in large metropolitan areas are led by an Executive Director, who manages a team of full-time staff, works to grow "I Have A Dream" in the region, and engages the broader community in this effort. Typically, these Executive Director led sites will support multiple cohorts of Dreamers, spanning different grade levels on the pathway to college.
We also support a number of individual sites in smaller communities that support one or two Dreamer cohorts, and are funded largely by a Sponsor or group of Sponsors who then hire a Program Director to work with the Dreamers on a daily basis.
