Among the evening's guests were Suzanne and Bob Wright, recipients of the Eugene M. Lang Lifetime Achievement Award, and Teshana Henderson, recipient of the Spirit of the Dream Alumni Award. In addition, Alma Ceballos, an alumna from the very first class of Dreamers, and her son Anthony Acasio, the first child of a Dreamer to graduate from college, recognized Eugene M. Lang, Founder and Chairman Emeritus of the "I Have A Dream" Foundation, for the impact he made on their lives and for his continued commitment to philanthropy.
Students from the KIPP Infinity Stage Ensemble kicked off the evening with a lively musical performance, actress and Dreamer Alumna Stephanie Andujar performed a moving original poem, and the Democracy Prep Scholars delighted guests with an excerpt from the movie Hairspray. Sue Herera and Carlos Watson, the evening's emcees, rallied the audience to raise over $19,000 for our Dreamers through an exciting "Text-to-Pledge" campaign, and auctioneer Patrick Tully concluded the evening with a spirited auction.
